Wellness

As your pet’s veterinarian, we are here to provide specialized and preventative care throughout the many phases of your pet’s life. We offer wellness services to companion animals such as dogs and cats as well as pet ruminants like sheep and goats. We also cater to the equine community offering teeth floats, Coggins testing, and vaccines.

Dogs and Cats

From their puppy and kitten phase to active adult and senior stages, we strive to prevent and discover problems before they arise. At Midtown Veterinary Services and Hospital, we know that your pet is an important member of your family and that’s why we work hard to guarantee that they are given the best care throughout their lifetime.

Annual wellness exams give us the opportunity to evaluate your pet’s overall health while providing us with a baseline for their particular bodies and tendencies. During these exams, we can detect potential problems before they become serious. We will take note of your pet’s vital signs and perform a comprehensive check of your pet’s eyes, ears, skin. We’ll also check your pet’s neurological, gastrointestinal, and skeletal systems for any abnormalities.

Based on the physical exam, we may conduct blood work, urinalysis, and test for intestinal parasites, heartworms, and other disease screenings. The objective of the testing is to prevent major health issues from going undetected. By recording baseline values when your pet is healthy, it allows us to provide better care in the event of an illness or emergency and enables us to spot any trends or changes that may occur.

Additional preventative measures that are part of a wellness appointment include age appropriate vaccinations, external and internal parasite prevention, and dietary management. Our veterinarian will discuss in detail the individualized needs of your pet according to your pet’s breed, age, health condition, activity level, and lifestyle. We will give you the information and options you need to make the best decisions for your pet’s health and happiness.
